M. Summers grew up preferring books to people and not much has changed. Once upon a time, you would have found her in a high school astronomy classroom or writing curriculum for NASA or Kitt Peak National Observatory. Now, she saves the lectures for her daughters and random, unsuspecting children on field trips to science museums. Her writing has also evolved, transitioning from science curriculum to science fiction and fantasy.
She spends her free time in her high desert garden, at choir rehearsal, hunched over an art project, or dressed in funny clothes as a historic re-enactor. She also loves to travel with her husband, who (luckily) shares her interest in the aforementioned science museums. Her favorite place is at her computer, daydreaming about new worlds with a lazy Labrador to warm her feet. But no matter what she’s doing, there is always, always a story in her head and a song in her heart. Or is it the other way around?
